Student Crew: Overview

SPECIAL NOTE: The USSU Student Crew Office is now located in Room B3 in Lower Place Riel (next to tunnel). The Student Crew office is now closed for the summer and will reopen August 20, 2012.

The USSU Student Crew offers a number of services around campus.  Our members, all of legal age, provide security at on and off campus functions and possess a high level of knowledge, experience and accountability.  We also offer services like hanging posters, providing over-night security, U of S Bookstore security, residence security, among others. Furthermore, when on duty Student Crew acts as the eyes and ears of Campus Security.

The USSU offers Server It Right Training. Training costs $5.00 per individual and is required for every individual that will be distributing alcoholic beverages at your event. To have your group take the course, please contact the Student Crew/Safewalk coordinator at least 1 week prior to your event.

Serve It Right Saskatchewan (SIRS) is the official provincial responsible service of alcohol program. It was developed to provide consistent training for the sale and service of alcohol and to ensure that alcohol-related activities are conducted with integrity and in a socially responsible manner.

Training topics include:

• Ways of identifying intoxication.
• How to handle situations involving minors.
• Effective approaches in discontinuing or refusing the sale or service of
  alcohol.
• Facts and figures on legal responsibilities and liabilities.
